What should be included in a written roofing quote?
The short answer
A useful quotation names the defect, the area of roof affected, the work proposed, the materials by type, the access method, what is excluded, how variations would be priced, the expected timescale and the payment terms. A single line and a total is a price, not a quotation.
What could this mean?
This detail is also what makes competing quotations comparable. Without it you cannot tell whether a lower price reflects efficiency or a smaller scope.

- Roof RepairsA roof repair fixes a localised fault — slipped slates, cracked tiles, failed flashing, a leaking valley or a split flat-roof seam — without replacing the whole roof. Most Cumbrian domestic repairs are completed in a single visit once the true cause of the leak has been identified.
- New Roofs and ReroofingReroofing means stripping the existing covering back to the rafters and rebuilding the roof with new membrane, battens, fixings and coverings. It is the right choice once slates or tiles are failing across whole slopes or the underlay has perished.

If anything on that list is missing, ask for it in writing before you accept.
