Why can a small roof repair cost more than expected?
The short answer
Because the repair itself is rarely the expensive part. Getting a person safely to a fault ten metres up can take longer and cost more than the fix. Access equipment, traffic or garden constraints, working at height safely and a minimum charge for attending all apply whether the job takes ten minutes or two hours.
What could this mean?
If several small repairs are outstanding, having them done in one visit usually costs far less than three separate visits with three sets of access.
